Second Sunday of Advent, Sunday Dec ember 7, 2025

Isiaiah 40:3-5A voice of one calling: “In the wilderness prepare the way for the Lord; make straight in the desert a highway for our God. Every valley shall be raised up, every mountain and hill made low; the rough ground shall become level, the rugged places a plain. And the glory of the Lord will be revealed,
and all people will see it together. For the mouth of the Lord has spoken.”
Isiaiah 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
The second Sunday of Advent focuses on peace, a profound gift promised by God through the coming of Christ. In Isaiah 40:3-5, we hear the voice crying out in the wilderness: “Prepare the way of the Lord, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.” This passage invites us to clear the paths in our hearts, removing obstacles that hinder peace. Jesus is called the “Prince of Peace” (Isaiah 9:6), whose arrival brings reconciliation between God and humanity, and among people themselves. As we await His coming, we are called to embody His peace by fostering forgiveness, understanding, and harmony in our lives and communities.
Prayer:
Lord of Peace,
As we journey through this season of Advent, help us prepare our hearts to receive Your peace. Calm the storms within us and around us. Teach us to be instruments of Your peace in a world longing for healing and reconciliation. May Your peace reign in our hearts, in our homes, and in our communities. Guide us to walk in Your ways, spreading love and hope to all we meet.
Amen.
