Eastertide Day 45 Tuesday June 3 2025

John 17: 1-11 After Jesus said this, he looked toward heaven and prayed: “Father, the hour has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify you. For you granted him authority over all people that he might give eternal life to all those you have given him. Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. I have brought you glory on earth by finishing the work you gave me to do. And now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world began.

“I have revealed you to those whom you gave me out of the world. They were yours; you gave them to me and they have obeyed your word. Now they know that everything you have given me comes from you. For I gave them the words you gave me and they accepted them. They knew with certainty that I came from you, and they believed that you sent me. I pray for them. I am not praying for the world, but for those you have given me, for they are yours. 10 All I have is yours, and all you have is mine. And glory has come to me through them. 11 I will remain in the world no longer, but they are still in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, protect them by the power of your name, the name you gave me, so that they may be one as we are one.

In this passage, Jesus offers a profound prayer to the Father just before His passion. He speaks of glorification—not just His own, but the glory that will be shared with His followers. Jesus prays for unity among His disciples, that they may be one as He and the Father are one. This unity is a powerful witness to the world of God’s love and presence.

During Eastertide, as we celebrate the Resurrection, this prayer invites us to reflect on the new life we have in Christ and the call to live in unity and love with one another. Jesus’ desire is that we remain in His love, guarded and sanctified through the truth of God’s word. Our shared faith connects us deeply, transcending divisions and inspiring us to embody the peace and hope of the risen Lord.

Let us embrace this time of Eastertide to deepen our relationship with Christ, to seek unity within our communities, and to live out the gospel with joy and fidelity.

Prayer: Loving Father, through Your Son, Jesus Christ, we have been given new life and hope.
Help us to remain united in faith and love, just as Jesus prayed.
May Your truth guide us, and Your Spirit strengthen us to witness to Your glory.
Grant us the grace to live in harmony with one another, reflecting the unity of the Trinity.
In this Easter season, fill our hearts with joy and peace,
That we may carry the light of the Resurrection into the world.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
