Eastertide Day 37 Monday May 26 2025
John 15: 26 “When the Advocate comes, whom I will send to you from the Father—the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father—he will testify about me. 27 And you also must testify, for you have been with me from the beginning.
John 16: 1-4 “All this I have told you so that you will not fall away. 2 They will put you out of the synagogue; in fact, the time is coming when anyone who kills you will think they are offering a service to God. 3 They will do such things because they have not known the Father or me. 4 I have told you this, so that when their time comes you will remember that I warned you about them.

In these passages, Jesus prepares His disciples for the challenges they will face after His departure. He speaks of the Advocate, the Spirit of truth, who will come to guide and empower them. This promise is a great comfort during Eastertide, a season celebrating the resurrection and the new life that Jesus brings. The Spirit’s presence reassures us that we are never alone in our journey, even when faced with trials and opposition.
Jesus also warns His followers that they will encounter persecution because of their faith. Yet, He encourages them to remain steadfast, reminding us that suffering for righteousness is part of living a faithful Christian life. Eastertide is a time to embrace this calling with courage, trusting in the Spirit’s strength to sustain us.
As we reflect on these words, we are invited to open our hearts to the Spirit’s guidance, to be witnesses of Christ’s love in the world, and to find hope in His victory over death.
Prayer: Spirit of Truth, You are our Advocate and Comforter,
Guide us in all truth and fill us with courage.
Help us to stand firm in faith when we face trials,
To witness boldly to the love of Christ,
And to live as Easter people, joyful and free.
May your presence sustain us through every challenge,
And may we always trust in the risen Lord.
Amen.
