Eastertide Day 31 Tuesday May 20 2025
John 14: 27-31 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
28 “You heard me say, ‘I am going away and I am coming back to you.’ If you loved me, you would be glad that I am going to the Father, for the Father is greater than I. 29 I have told you now before it happens, so that when it does happen you will believe. 30 I will not say much more to you, for the prince of this world is coming. He has no hold over me, 31 but he comes so that the world may learn that I love the Father and do exactly what my Father has commanded me.

In these verses, Jesus offers His peace to His disciples—a peace unlike any the world can give. He acknowledges the challenges and fears they will face but assures them that His peace will calm their hearts. Jesus encourages them not to be troubled or afraid because He is with them, even as He prepares to leave. The world may not understand or accept His teachings, but His love and presence remain steadfast.
As Eastertide continues, this passage reminds us that the resurrection brings not only victory over death but also the promise of enduring peace. In times of uncertainty or anxiety, we are invited to lean into the peace of Christ, trusting that His Spirit is with us, guiding and comforting us.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank You for the gift of Your peace, a peace that surpasses all understanding. In moments of fear and doubt, help me to remember that You are with me, offering calm and courage. May Your presence quiet my troubled heart and strengthen my faith. Guide me to share Your peace with others, reflecting Your love in all I do.
Amen.
