Eastertide Day 30 Monday May 19 2025

John 14: 21-26 Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them.”

22 Then Judas (not Judas Iscariot) said, “But, Lord, why do you intend to show yourself to us and not to the world?”

23 Jesus replied, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them. 24 Anyone who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me.

25 “All this I have spoken while still with you. 26 But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.

In this passage, Jesus promises the gift of the Holy Spirit to those who love Him and keep His commandments. He assures us that the Spirit will teach us all things and remind us of His words, guiding us into truth and helping us to live in love and obedience. During Eastertide, this promise is especially powerful as we celebrate the resurrection and the new life it brings. The risen Christ sends the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, to dwell within us, empowering us to live as His faithful disciples, bear witness to His love, and share the joy of Easter with the world.

As we reflect on these verses, we are invited to deepen our love for Jesus, to listen attentively to His teachings, and to open our hearts to the transforming presence of the Holy Spirit. In doing so, we grow in faith and become living signs of the resurrection, bringing hope and peace to those around us.

Prayer: Risen Lord: You have promised to send us the Holy Spirit, our Advocate and Guide. Fill our hearts with Your love, and help us to keep Your commandments faithfully. Teach us Your truth and remind us of Your words, that we may walk in Your ways. Strengthen us by Your Spirit to be witnesses of the resurrection, sharing the joy and hope of Easter with all we meet. May Your peace reign in our hearts now and always.
Amen.
