Eastertide Day 28 Saturday May 17 2025

John 14: 7-14 If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.”

Philip said, “Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us.”

Jesus answered: “Don’t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? 10 Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you I do not speak on my own authority. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work. 11 Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the works themselves. 12 Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. 13 And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.

In this passage, Jesus speaks to His disciples, revealing the profound truth of His unity with the Father. He assures them that by knowing Him, they also know the Father, for He is in the Father and the Father is in Him. This intimate relationship is an invitation for us to deepen our understanding of Christ as the visible image of the invisible God. Through Jesus, we are given a glimpse of God’s heart—a heart full of love, compassion, and grace.

As we continue through the season of Eastertide, this passage reminds us of the power and authority given to us through faith in Jesus. His promise that we will do even greater works challenges us to trust in His Spirit working through us. It encourages us to live boldly as His followers, relying on prayer and the assurance that whatever we ask in His name, according to His will, will be done.

This Eastertide, let us continue to celebrate the resurrection by living out Christ’s mission, bringing His light and love to the world. Let us trust in His presence and rely on His power, knowing that He works through us to accomplish His purposes.

Prayer: Loving Father, we thank You for the gift of Your Son, Jesus Christ, who reveals Your heart to us. Help us to know Him more deeply and to trust in His promise that through faith, we can continue His work in the world. Strengthen our hearts to live boldly as His disciples, relying on the power of prayer and the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

Lord, may we reflect Your love and grace in all that we do, bringing hope to those in need and shining the light of Christ in the darkest places. During this Eastertide, renew our hearts and minds to live as Easter people, rejoicing in the resurrection and proclaiming the good news to all.

In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
