Day 5 of Lent Monday Feburary 23rd 2026

Scripture

“In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength.”Isaiah 30:15

Reflection

We live in a culture that equates strength with noise, busyness, and “grinding.” We feel that if we aren’t moving, we are falling behind. But the prophet Isaiah provides a counter-cultural truth: our real power doesn’t come from our frantic efforts, but from our ability to be still.

“Quietness and trust” are partners. It takes a great deal of trust to be quiet. When we stop talking, stop planning, and stop trying to fix everything ourselves, we are essentially saying, “God, I trust that You are working even when I am not.” This kind of silence is where we find the endurance to keep going. It’s the difference between running on our own limited adrenaline and leaning into God’s infinite strength. Today, let your silence be an act of trust.

Prayer

Lord, I am tired of trying to be strong on my own. I confess that I often mistake busyness for faithfulness. Today, I choose to rest in Your salvation. I quiet my heart and place my trust in You, believing that in this stillness, You are renewing my strength for the journey ahead. Amen.
