Day 4 of Lent, Saturday Feburary 21th 2026

Scripture
“Yes, my soul, find rest in God; my hope comes from him.” — Psalm 62:5
Reflection
Often, when we finally get quiet, we realize our minds are louder than the world ever was. We sit in silence, but our thoughts are racing with to-do lists, anxieties about the future, or replays of past conversations. We want “instant” peace, but the soul usually needs a moment to settle—like a jar of muddy water that needs to sit still before the water becomes clear.
Today’s challenge is to wait. Silence isn’t just the absence of talking; it is a posture of expectation. When the Psalmist tells his soul to “find rest,” he is actually commanding himself to stop looking for hope in circumstances, people, or his own efforts. Today, as you find your quiet moment, don’t be discouraged if your mind wanders. Simply acknowledge the noise, and then gently steer your heart back to the simple truth: your hope doesn’t come from your productivity. It comes from Him.
Prayer
Lord, my mind is often a whirlwind of distractions. Even in the quiet, I find it hard to truly rest. Today, I give myself permission to sit and wait for You. I don’t need a sign or a sudden breakthrough; I just want to be near You. Quiet the restless thoughts within me and remind my soul that my hope is secure in Your hands. Amen.
