Day 22 of Lent – Commitment
Lent offers us an opportunity to deepen our commitment to Christ. Commitment, in the Lenten context, means intentionally aligning our lives with the Gospel message and striving to live as disciples of Jesus. It calls for a deeper dedication to prayer, fasting, and almsgiving—not as mere obligations, but as acts of love and devotion.
True commitment requires sacrifice. Just as Jesus committed Himself fully to the will of the Father, even to the point of death on the cross, we are called to surrender our own desires and comforts for the sake of our faith. This could mean letting go of selfish habits, prioritizing time for prayer, or seeking reconciliation in broken relationships. Lent invites us to examine the depth of our commitment and ask ourselves: Are we truly following Christ, or are we holding back parts of our hearts?
As we journey through Lent, let us remember that commitment is not about perfection but perseverance. God does not ask for flawless disciples, but for hearts willing to grow and be transformed by His grace. May this season inspire us to renew our dedication to God, trusting that He will provide the strength to remain faithful, even in times of struggle. Let our Lenten commitments draw us closer to His love and prepare us to fully embrace the joy of the resurrection.
Prayer: I come before You with a heart longing to be fully committed to Your will. Help me to trust You in all things, even when life feels uncertain. Strengthen my resolve to follow Your ways and to honor You in my words and deeds. During this Lenten season, guide me to grow in faith and deepen my relationship with You. May I reflect Your love to others and remain steadfast in my commitment to You.
Amen.
