Day 23

Day 23 of Lent Monday March 16th

Scripture

“And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”Philippians 4:7 (NIV)

Reflection

We have crossed the threshold of Little Easter, that traditional mid-Lenten pause designed to refresh our spirits and remind us of the joy that awaits. However, we recognize that “refreshment” does not always follow a standard calendar. For some, today is a return to the noise of the world; for others, who have labored through the weekend, today is a hard-earned moment of silence.

The beauty of the peace of God is that it is not a fair-weather friend. It does not wait for a quiet day to arrive; it creates quiet within us. St. Paul describes this peace as a guard—a sentinel that stands watch over our hearts and minds regardless of our surroundings. Whether you are navigating the pressures of a new work week or seeking restoration on a much-needed day off, this peace is available to you right now. It is a peace that “transcends understanding” because it doesn’t make sense to the world to be calm in the storm—and yet, in Christ, we are. Carry the light of yesterday’s celebration into today’s reality, knowing that you are guarded by a peace that never sleeps.

Prayer

O Lord, our Shield and our Constant Companion, we thank You for the hope that Little Easter has rekindled within us. We pray today for every member of our community—for those who labor, that You would sustain them; and for those who rest, that You would restore them. May Your peace, which is beyond our human comprehension, stand watch over our hearts this day. Guard us from the distractions of the world and the anxieties of the mind. Help us to walk with a steady spirit, anchored in the truth that Your love is our ultimate place of rest. Amen. May the joy we found in the “Little Easter” celebration remain our portion throughout this week, that in all things we may reflect the light and the love of Your Son, Jesus Christ. Amen.
