Day 16 of Lent Saturday March 7th

Scripture
“A voice of one calling: ‘In the wilderness prepare the way for the Lord; make straight in the desert a highway for our God.’” — Isaiah 40:3
Reflection
On a long journey, the most important work often happens before the next leg of the trip begins. Saturday is a unique “intersection” in our week. It is the day we wrap up the chores, the errands, and the noise of the last five days so that we can enter Sunday with a clear mind. Endurance isn’t just about moving forward; it’s about the intentional act of clearing the path.
Today, preparation is our spiritual discipline. It isn’t about being “busy” with more tasks; it’s about clearing the clutter from our hearts. Take a moment today to “straighten the highway” of your own life. Resolve a lingering conflict, finish a task that’s weighing on you, or simply tidy up your space. When we prepare our environment and our schedule, we create the room God needs to speak to us tomorrow. We aren’t resting yet—we are getting ready for the true rest that is coming.
Prayer
Lord, thank You for this day of preparation. Help me to use these hours wisely—not just to check off a to-do list, but to quiet the noise in my heart. Give me the energy to finish the work of this week well so that I can enter Your Day tomorrow with a spirit that is open, ready, and still. Make my paths straight and my heart ready to receive You. Amen.
