Day 26 of Lent Thursday April 3rd 2025
Matthew 26: 41 Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.
1 Corinthians 10: 13 No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.
James 1: 12-15 Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him. 13 When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone; 14 but each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed. 15 Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.

Day 26 Reflection – Resisting Temptation
Resisting temptation is a challenge we all face, especially during Lent. This sacred season invites us to reflect on the ways we can strengthen our resolve and draw closer to God. When Jesus was tempted in the wilderness, He responded with Scripture, showing us the power of God’s Word as a defense against trials.
Today, take a moment to identify the temptations that pull you away from your faith. Whether it’s impatience, indulgence, or distraction, surrender them to God in prayer. Reflect on how fasting, prayer, and almsgiving can help you overcome these struggles. Remember that the Holy Spirit is your guide and strength in moments of weakness. Lean into His presence and trust in His power to transform your heart.
Take time today to pray for the grace to resist temptation and the courage to follow Christ more closely.
Prayer: I come before You seeking strength and guidance. You know my heart and the struggles I face. Lord, I ask for Your help in resisting the temptations that try to lead me away from Your path. Fill me with Your Spirit, that I may stand firm and choose Your will over my own desires. Remind me of Your promises and the peace that comes from walking in obedience to You.
When I am weak, Lord, be my strength. When I feel overwhelmed, draw me closer to You. Help me to fix my eyes on Jesus, who overcame all temptation, and trust in Your power to see me through. Thank You for Your grace and mercy, which cover me even when I fall short.
In Jesus’ name, I pray,
Amen.
