Friday October 3rd – Prayer
Matthew 6:7-8 And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. 8 Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.

In these verses, Jesus teaches us about the nature of prayer and the attitude we should have when communicating with God. He warns against using empty phrases or repetitive words, which were common in the prayers of some people at that time, thinking that many words would make their prayers more effective. Instead, Jesus reminds us that God already knows our needs before we even ask Him. This encourages us to approach God with sincerity and trust, rather than ritual or show.
The passage calls us to a deeper relationship with God—a connection beyond formalities. Our prayers should be genuine conversations from the heart, reflecting faith that God is attentive and loving. It’s a reminder that prayer is not about impressing others or reciting the right words, but about honestly expressing our thoughts, fears, hopes, and gratitude to a God who understands us completely.
Prayer: Lord God, thank You for knowing me so intimately, even before I speak my needs. Help me to come before You with a sincere heart, free from empty words and rituals. Teach me to trust in Your wisdom and love, knowing that You hear me always. May my prayers be honest and humble, rooted in faith and love. Guide me to grow closer to You each day, experiencing Your peace and presence in every moment. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
