Matthew 9: 36 When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.

Matthew 14: 14 When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them and healed their sick.

Ephesians 4: 32 Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.

1 Peter 3: 8 Finally, all of you, be like-minded, be sympathetic, love one another, be compassionate and humble.

Day 30 of Lent – Having Compassion

Today invites us to reflect on the profound power of compassion. Jesus, throughout His ministry, modeled a life of empathy, love, and care for others, especially for those who were marginalized, hurting, or in need. Compassion calls us to step outside of ourselves and see the world through the eyes of another, recognizing their pain and being moved to respond.

Take a moment today to ask yourself: How can I embody Christ’s compassion in my daily interactions? Are there opportunities to extend kindness to someone who may be struggling quietly? Even small acts of love—offering a listening ear, a kind word, or a simple gesture of care—can reflect the heart of Christ.

As you go about your day, consider praying for a greater sensitivity to the needs of others. May this Lenten season be a time of growing in love and being a vessel of God’s compassion to the world around you.

Prayer: Lord, help me to see others through Your eyes. Fill my heart with compassion, and move me to action when I encounter someone in need. Teach me to love as You love, and guide me to be a reflection of Your mercy. Amen.
