Day 9 of Lent – Firday March 14th 2025

Matthew 6: 14-15 For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15 But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.

Mark 11: 25 And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins.

Ephesians 4: 32 Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.

Day 9 Reflection – Forgiveness

Forgiveness lies at the center of the Lenten journey, as we remember Christ’s sacrifice on the cross for the forgiveness of our sins. Reflecting on forgiveness challenges us to acknowledge the ways we have wronged others and the ways we hold onto resentment. True forgiveness is not always easy, but it is essential to our relationship with God and others. As we forgive, we release the burden of anger and hurt, making room for healing and peace. Lent invites us to follow Christ’s example, forgiving as He forgave, and seeking reconciliation wherever possible.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, as I journey through this Lenten season, I humbly come before You with a heart seeking forgiveness and healing. Help me to forgive those who have wronged me, just as You have forgiven me through Your boundless grace. Teach me to let go of bitterness, anger, and pain, replacing them with love, compassion, and understanding. Strengthen me to seek reconciliation where it is needed and to reflect Your mercy in my relationships. Lord, cleanse my heart and make it new, that I may walk in the freedom of forgiveness and live in the peace that comes from You alone. Thank You for the gift of Your Son, who bore my sins on the cross, and for the endless mercy You extend to me each day.
In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
