Day 4 of Lent – Saturday March 8th 2025
Matthew 10: 29-35 29 But he wanted to justify himself, so he asked Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?”In reply Jesus said: “A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, when he was attacked by robbers. They stripped him of his clothes, beat him and went away, leaving him half dead. 31 A priest happened to be going down the same road, and when he saw the man, he passed by on the other side. 32 So too, a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. 33 But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him. 34 He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, brought him to an inn and took care of him. 35 The next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper. ‘Look after him,’ he said, ‘and when I return, I will reimburse you for any extra expense you may have.’
Day 4 Reflection – Acts of Charity and kindness

As we journey through Lent, we are called to reflect on the ways we can embody Christ’s love through acts of charity and kindness. Today, take a moment to consider how generosity can transform not only the lives of others but also your own heart. True charity is not measured by the size of the gift but by the love with which it is given. Whether it’s offering your time, resources, or simply a kind word, small gestures can have a profound impact.
Ask yourself: How can I give more freely? What can I set aside to make space for others? In what ways can I be more intentional in practicing compassion?
Let today be a reminder that Lent is a season of selflessness—a time to empty ourselves so that God’s love can shine through.
Prayer: Heavenly Father,
You are the source of all goodness and love.
Teach me to give as You give—freely, selflessly, and with a joyful heart.
Open my eyes to the needs of those around me, and grant me the courage to answer their call.
Help me to see Your face in every person I meet, and let my actions be a reflection of Your divine love.
May I grow in kindness and generosity,
So that my life becomes a testament to Your grace.
Amen.
