Day 9 of Lent Friday Feburary 27th 2026

Scripture

“Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.”Psalm 27:14

Reflection

Control is often just a mask for impatience. We want the breakthrough now. We want the answer yesterday. When things don’t move at our speed, we start trying to manipulate circumstances, “helping” God along, or burning ourselves out with worry. We treat waiting like a wasted gap in our lives, but in the economy of God, waiting is where the deepest work happens.

Relinquishing control of your timeline is a profound act of worship. It is saying, “Lord, I believe Your clock is more accurate than mine.” Today, identify one thing you are trying to rush. Maybe it’s a career move, a reconciliation, or a personal goal. Motivation doesn’t always look like running faster; sometimes, the most “strong-hearted” thing you can do is stand still and refuse to let anxiety dictate your pace. Peace isn’t found in getting the answer; it’s found in knowing the One who holds the calendar.

Prayer

Lord, I recognize today that my anxiety is often just my ego trying to outrun Your wisdom. I confess that I’ve been treating Your timing as a problem to be solved rather than a sanctuary to rest in. I surrender my “hurry” to You. I trade my restless striving for Your rhythmic grace.

Give me the strenght to stay “strong and take heart” even when the silence feels long. I choose to believe that You are doing the “your work” right now and that I am not behind; I am right where You want me. I unclench my grip on the outcome and breathe in the certainty of Your love. Amen.
