Day 2 of Lent, Thursday Feburary 19th 2026

Scripture

Matthew 6:6 “But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.”

Reflection

In a world where we are encouraged to post, share, and perform almost every aspect of our lives, the idea of a “secret place” feels radical. We often feel like if a moment wasn’t captured or seen, it didn’t count. But Lent invites us to the opposite: a relationship that doesn’t need an audience.

“Closing the door” isn’t just about a physical room. It’s about closing the door on the expectations of others, the “shoulds” of your to-do list, and the noise of your own ego. In that quiet, unseen space, you don’t have to be the boss, the parent, the spouse, or the “perfect” Christian. You just get to be a child of God. This is where the soul begins to heal—in the safety of being fully known and fully loved without a single person watching.

Prayer

Lord, today I’m closing the door. Just for a few minutes, I want to shut out the noise of the world and the pressure to perform. Help me find my “secret place” in the middle of this busy day. I bring You my real heart—the messy parts, the tired parts, and the parts I usually hide. Thank You for seeing me, even when I feel invisible to everyone else. Amen.
