Tuesday October 14th – For the Troubled

Matthew 11:28-30 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

In these verses, Jesus invites us into a relationship of trust and surrender. He recognizes the weariness and burdens we carry—whether they be worries, sins, responsibilities, or fears—and offers us rest that only He can provide. The yoke He speaks of symbolizes partnership and guidance; unlike the heavy burdens imposed by the world or legalism, His yoke is easy because He supports us and teaches us with gentleness and humility. This passage reminds us that true peace and renewal come from leaning on Jesus, learning from His example, and allowing Him to carry our burdens alongside us.

Prayer Lord Jesus, thank You for inviting me to come to You when I am weary and burdened. I confess that I often try to carry my struggles alone and exhaust myself in the process. Help me to take Your yoke upon me, to learn from You, and to rest in Your gentle and humble heart. Teach me to trust You more deeply and to find peace in Your presence. May Your light burden bring freedom and joy to my soul.
Amen.
