Eastertide Day 44 Monday June 2 2025

John 16: 29-33 Then Jesus’ disciples said, “Now you are speaking clearly and without figures of speech. 30 Now we can see that you know all things and that you do not even need to have anyone ask you questions. This makes us believe that you came from God.”

31 “Do you now believe?” Jesus replied. 32 “A time is coming and in fact has come when you will be scattered, each to your own home. You will leave me all alone. Yet I am not alone, for my Father is with me.

33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

In this passage, Jesus speaks to His disciples about the challenges they will face and the peace He offers amidst trials. The disciples express their belief that Jesus has come from God, yet Jesus prepares them for the coming difficulties, reminding them that despite the tribulations of the world, they can find peace in Him. He assures them of His victory over the world, encouraging them to take heart and not be afraid.

During Eastertide, this message resonates deeply as we celebrate the resurrection of Christ – His triumph over death and sin. The peace Jesus offers is not the absence of trouble but a profound assurance that He is with us through every struggle. This passage invites us to trust in His victory and to find courage and peace in His presence.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, You have overcome the world and brought us the gift of peace. In times of fear and uncertainty, help us to remember Your promise that we need not be afraid. Strengthen our faith that we may face life’s challenges with courage, knowing You are always with us. May Your resurrection power fill our hearts with hope and joy this Eastertide and every day.
