Eastertide Day 24 Tuesday May 13 2025

John 10: 22-30 Then came the Festival of Dedication at Jerusalem. It was winter, 23 and Jesus was in the temple courts walking in Solomon’s Colonnade. 24 The Jews who were there gathered around him, saying, “How long will you keep us in suspense? If you are the Messiah, tell us plainly.”

25 Jesus answered, “I did tell you, but you do not believe. The works I do in my Father’s name testify about me, 26 but you do not believe because you are not my sheep. 27 My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. 28 I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. 29 My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand. 30 I and the Father are one.”

In today’s Gospel passage, we find Jesus walking in the temple during the Feast of Dedication. The people gather around Him, eagerly asking whether He is the Christ. In His response, Jesus points to His works as evidence of His identity and emphasizes the intimate relationship He has with His followers: “My sheep hear my voice; I know them, and they follow me.” This tender image of the Good Shepherd reminds us that Jesus knows us personally and calls us to trust in His guidance.

Eastertide is a season to rejoice in the new life we have through Christ’s resurrection. As we reflect on this passage, we are invited to deepen our trust in Jesus as our Shepherd. He assures us that no one can snatch us out of His hand, for we are secure in the Father’s love. This promise gives us hope and confidence, even in times of uncertainty or doubt.

Today, let us listen for the voice of Jesus in prayer, scripture, and the quiet moments of our day. May we respond with hearts full of faith, following Him wherever He leads.

Prayer: Jesus, thank You for calling me by name and guiding me through life. Help me to hear Your voice amidst the noise of the world and to follow You with trust and obedience. May I find comfort and assurance in Your promise that no one can take me out of Your hand. Strengthen my faith and deepen my love for You during this Easter season. Amen.Prayer
