Eastertide Day 18 Wednesday May 7 2025
John 6: 35-40 Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty. 36 But as I told you, you have seen me and still you do not believe. 37 All those the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away. 38 For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me. 39 And this is the will of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all those he has given me, but raise them up at the last day. 40 For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.”

In this passage, Jesus declares, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.” These words remind us during Eastertide of the profound nourishment and sustenance that Christ offers to our lives. Just as bread sustains the body, Jesus sustains our souls, offering eternal life to those who come to Him in faith.
Eastertide is a season of hope and renewal, reminding us of the victory of Christ over death. This passage speaks to the promise of resurrection and the assurance that all who believe in Him will be raised up on the last day. It is a call to trust in His provision and to rest in the certainty of His love and grace.
As we journey through this season, let us open our hearts to the life-giving presence of Christ, the true bread from heaven. Let us remember that His mission is to do the will of the Father, which is to bring salvation to all who believe. This assurance is a cornerstone of our faith, filling us with joy and strengthening us as we live out the Gospel in our daily lives.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, Bread of Life, we thank You for the gift of Your presence and the promise of eternal life. During this season of Eastertide, help us to come to You with open hearts, trusting in Your provision and resting in Your grace.
Nourish us with Your love, and empower us to share Your light with the world.
May we always seek to do the will of the Father and find our hope in You.
Raise us up on the last day, that we may rejoice with You forever.
Amen.
